How Common is Teen Violence?

Violence among teens is so common that one in ten teens get sent to the police. Nineteen percent of those that are sent to the police are charged with a violent crime. It is the second leading cause of death among teens between the age of fifteen and nineteen, forty-point-three percent of teens had taken part in a fight in the last year (more boys than girls.) thirty-three-seven percent had been involved in bullying during the last school term. Fifteen-point-eight had sustained an injury from fighting in the last year. Ten-point-seven had carried a weapon at least once in the last thirty days.
